New Hope Center, Y‑12 National Security Complex
It was no surprise when Viking Industrial won the $1.4 million contract for this U. S. Department of Energy project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Viking's experience with the delicacy and complexity of federal regulations combined with our stellar reputation as craftsmen sealed the deal. Viking fabricated and installed a complete LEED certified HVAC and plumbing system for the new facility.
The 137,700 square foot New Hope Center is the public face of the Y‑12 National Security Complex, and houses Y-12's History Center, badging office, a 400-seat auditorium, 16 conference rooms, a caterer's kitchen, and five laboratories. The facility also contains the Y-12 History Library, as well as a media center. The New Hope Center is also one of Tennessee's few certified high-performance "green" buildings.
Grote Hall Renovations, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
When the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga decided to renovate its Grote Hall, it was Viking chosen to fabricate and install a complex heating and cooling system with a specialized exhaust system. The revered class building houses the chemistry and geology departments and has been named the "symbol of the great things happening on the Chattanooga campus" by the University's President.
The $3.2 million system includes energy efficient ventilation, utilizing a Semco air handler with energy recovery wheel and Strobic exhaust fans with Phoenix Venturi Control Valves for laboratory exhaust. The extraordinary level of craftsmanship displayed in the construction of the polished 316L stainless steel ductwork, made it easy for the architect to leave the ductwork exposed in the labs without ceilings, serving a dual purpose as part of the actual interior design as well as function of the building.
Chemical Process Expansion Project, Lamberti Chemical
Viking fabricated and installed a complete reactor addition and all of the associated piping on this unique project for multi-national chemical company Lamberti Chemical at its Chattanooga, TN plant. This highly complex project billed over $ 1.5 million in labor hours, with the complete system including one reactor, two heat exchangers, accumulator tanks, support equipment, and more than three miles of piping installed in accordance with B31.3 specifications.
Thanks to the outstanding craftsmanship of Viking's leadership and field team, we completed this project under stringent conditions on time and under budget. When Viking was finished, plant productivity had increased by over 100%.
